UOS Workshop for Parents

September 4-5, 2014

A parent workshop was held in UOS for grades 1 to 5. Parents literally stepped into their children’s shoes and were given an insight into their world. They participated in a variety of activities that integrated knowledge and skill. One activity required them to build a marshmallow and spaghetti structure to understand the importance of trusses which provide stability to buildings. The parents also enthusiastically demonstrated their understanding of different advertising techniques through role-playing, where in one situation they had to ‘sell’ a variety of products. They were introduced to assessing skill-based questions through the fun quiz based on ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?’ Enjoyment of parents was evident from their comments as one remarked, ‘The workshop itself was so good, no wonder our kids love UOS so much!’
