Audre Lorde said, “It is not our differences that divide us. It is our inability to recognize, accept and celebrate those differences”.
The Citizenship Club hosted the commemoration of Racial Harmony Day at NPS International School on the 16th June, 2017. The theme for the event was ‘Harmony in Our Hands’. The theme encourages every child and staff to believe that a single kind act goes a long way. Such selfless kind acts bind us together even though we may be of different races or from different home towns. To promote inter-cultural understanding, students and teachers were encouraged to come dressed in ethnic costumes and bring along traditional food to share with one another. Students also had the opportunity to talk about their traditional food as well as their ethnic costumes in class.
