Theatre and Drama at NPS are a very important part of our arts program, and are included in the curriculum for grades 1 to 8. We are also happy to announce that we offer Drama as an IGCSE subject for Grades 9 and 10 from this academic year.
Students develop strong skills in concepts such as acting, scene and character analyses, public speaking, audience interaction, improvisation, devising and technical theatre. This drama curriculum provides a good foundation for the concepts taught in 9 and 10 IGCSE.
Drama classes typically involve a number of creative activities and performances in groups and pairs, sometimes also individually. These activities and performances help students develop social and communication skills, public speaking skills, presentation skills as well as cooperation and leadership skills. Formative and Summative Assessments are periodically conducted to check the students’ progress.
The Middle School Drama curriculum is designed to make the students confident speakers and presenters and impactful performers. The students also get an opportunity to participate in various competitions and in Annual School Productions to showcase their talent. These competitions are inter-school, intra-school, and international, giving our students exposure and experience.
