Component 1: Unit Tests (UT): These are tests held within the semester and conducted in the style of Summative Assessments. The tests dates are communicated via the Student Diary.
Component 2: Formative or Alternative Assessment (FA/AA): These include:
Projects
Scientific investigations
Term papers
End of chapter tests
Presentations, etc.
Formative or Alternative Assessments are held at intervals during the semester. Dates of these are not disclosed to the students.
Component 3: Summative Assessment (SA): Pen and paper tests held at the end of the semester and covers the curriculum for the semester.
Assessment Results:
The School will declare assessment results via the report card (3-4 interim reports depending on grade levels and 2 consultation records per year).
The School will also send to parents the marked answer scripts for the students and parents review and understanding.
Student Progression:
No student shall be retained in a course, up to Grade 8, except for reasons of age appropriateness or attendance
Appeals:
Within 7 working days of sending answer scripts home, parents or students may appeal for review of marks to the Principal or Head of School. Such appeals shall be evaluated along with the respective marker and the Coordinator or Senior Coordinator and members of the Examination Board before communicating the decision to the student/parent.
The school will aim to complete this process within 10 working days of receiving the appeal. The decision of the School shall be final.
Any further request for review shall be dealt with as per the Dispute Resolution Policy.
